2021 Standard Bank Young Artists recipients a talent pool of creatives

    September 10, 2021 /

For South African artists who have made their mark on the arts scene, there can be no more sought-after accolade than receiving a Standard Bank Young Artist (SBYA) award. It is both a badge of honour and a golden opportunity; a recognition of creativity, originality, talent, hard work, ambition and imagination – and a platform on which to build in pursuit of new artistic achievements.  For almost four decades, the partnership between Standard Bank and the National Arts Festival that makes the SBYA awards possible has exemplified the kind of public-private arts partnership that supports and sustains boldness, innovation and excellence from South Africa’s artists. Each year, the announcement of…

    September 10, 2021 /

THE Braai Show has been trending since the first episode aired on Wednesday September 8, 2021.  The show which airs on SABC 1 at 6pm is hosted by media personality Cassper Nyovest. Nyovest is raising funds for the Save Nompilo campaign. Earlier this year, the rapper took to social media to urge the public to donate money to an account started in Nompilo Dlamini’s name. Dlamini is hoping to get a lifesaving transplant in India but, unfortunately, she does not have the money to fund the operation. She needs R2-million, not only for the specific procedure,…

Local brands and leaders tackle SA literacy crisis through technology

    September 8, 2021 /

Almost 8 out of every 10 South African Grade 4 learners are currently functionally illiterate.  That is 78% 78 percent of learners.  Unesco reports that the COVID-19 crisis has disrupted the learning of children at an unprecedented scale.
